Investment casting offers greater freedom of design than other forms of casting or metal forming. The process gives significant cost savings through casting near net shapes with excellent surface finish. In many instances the casting requires little or no machining. Through various coring methods investment casting can produce complicated internal features. By working with the customers designers solutions can be found to reduce the weight of the casting.

Opticast was formed in 1999 as a subsidiary of Advanced Casting. The management and workforce have over 20 years experience in the development and manufacture of thin walled aluminium investment castings. This has provided a solid foundation upon which the company has already grown. With a significant capital investment in additional equipment during 2007 the company is now a fully autonomous manufacturing facility.
