The completed wax assembly (mould) is then coated in ceramic, the coating sequence is developed for the unique shape, and is automated using robots.

Having completed the shelling operation the wax is removed (hence the term Lost Wax).

The empty mould is then fired, the aluminium charge is poured into the mould and left to cool.

The ceramic surrounding the mould is then removed leaving a copy in metal of the original wax pattern.
